  • We loved our Thailand Mountain Trails Running Camp last year so much, that joined with Thailand Mountain Trails, The Green Race and Gone Running to bring you the CHIANG MAI RUNNING RETREAT 2018.

    The trip will be held from 29 June to 3 July 2018. 


    • 3 days with 20-30km per day
    • Total distance from 65km to 85km
    • Total elevation from 3,800m to 4,500m


    The west mountain range of Chiang Mai, which is the first part of the TMT1 route: the jungle trails to the Karen areas.


    • Refreshment, bars and snacks at mid-distance
    • Meals and overnights in the mountains
    • Luggage stored and spare bag at overnight stays



    • Transfer from airport to hotel
    • Welcome drink and information meeting
    • Dinner and night in 3-star hotel with swimming pool

    Saturday 30 June (25-32km with 2,900m D+)

    • Breakfast at hotel and start
    • Station at mid-dstance in Hmong village
    • Finish at Mae Sa Valley Botanic Resort
    • BBQ by the pool and night in the resort

    Sunday 1 July (24km with 1,200m D+)

    • Breakfast at the resort and start
    • Station at mid-distance in a Thai village
    • Finish at the Karen village of Mae Kha Piang
    • Aperitif by the falls, dinner and night in the village

    Monday 2 July (18-28km with 1,500m D+)

    • Breakfast at the village and start
    • 2 stations alongside the route
    • Finish and transfer back to Chiang Mai (1 hour)
    • Arrive in Chiang Mai by 4pm and shower at hotel
    • Transfer to airport (ensured for flights from 7pm)

    Optional: Extra night in Chiang Mai on Monday and transfer to airport on Tuesday.


    Chiang Mai Gate Hotel (Friday 29 June) - The hotel is conveniently located 200 metres from the city centre in an old silverwear manufacturing area. It includes comfortable and acclimatised rooms as well as a swimming pool. The area is full of bars, restaurants and markets. Twin rooms.

    Botanic Resort (Saturday 30 June) - The resort is located just alongside the route in the Mae Sa valley at 650m high. Amid luch, natural landscape and facing the green mountains, it provides a big swimming pool, comfortable and quiet rooms decorated in a contemporary Lanna Thai style. Twin rooms.

    Village of Mae Kha Piang (Sunday 1 July) - The beautiful village is inhabited by a Karen tribe in a remote area surrounded by jungle and paddies. We will enjoy its wonderful atmosphere, the typical wood houses and the luxuriant waterfall in the middle of the village. Family home on comfortable mattresses with sheets, blankets and pillows (no need to bring any sleeping bag).

    Luggage and Bag

    During the 3-day trip, runners' luggage will be stored at the Chiang Mai Gate Hotel in a safe room. A spare bag (20L) for each runner will be provided by the organisation. It will be picked up in the morning and transported to overnight places.

    • Trail running backpack with water supply (1L min)
    • Energy bars and gels
    • 3 running sets (t-shirt, pant / short, socks)
    • Lightweight windproof jacket
    • Headlight with battery
    • Whistle and space blanket
    • Small plastic bags for dirty clothes
    • Warm underwear for night (long pant and t-shirt)
    • Toilet set: toothbrush and paste, shower gel, microfibre towel
    • Flip flops

    All-inclusive price is SG$617 with special early bird price of SG$549 for booking 15-31 March. 

    The optional extra night is an additional SG$64.

    Price includes:

    • All transfers (airport, trails, city return)
    • Welcome drink and dinner on Friday 29 June
    • Accommodation 1 or 2 nights in a 3-star hotel in Chiang Mai
    • Accommodation 2 nights in the mountains (resort and village)
    • Comfortable bed, blanket, pillow and sheets provided
    • Spare bags transportation and luggage stored at hotel
    • All meals and drinks, and snacks at stations
    • Running guide for each level group (6-8 runners)
    • National Park fees and insurance
    • Team for organisation, safety and repatriation

    Note price excludes airfares, personal food and drinks, and alcoholic beverages. 


    Singapore Airlines, SilkAir and Bangkok Airways all have direct flights from Singapore to Chiang Mai.

    Alternatively, you could stopover in Bangkok with Air Asia or Thai Airways.
